A Tiny Obsession

Confessional 101.
If you know anything about me, it's probably the simple fact that I don't like to shop.
If it weren't for my mom being my personal shopper and my dad owning a clothing store, I probably wouldn't own any clothes at all.  And quite frankly, that would be just fine by me.
But I have a confession to make.
I have a slight obsession with beauty products.
I could spend hours  in Sephora or Sally's or Ulta-and the list goes on.  Walking into Sephora is kind of like getting a tiny glimpse into heaven.  As in, I called my cousin last night to talk about some of the latest beauty products out on the market, and it was probably the highlight of my day.
Well, today was a Sephora day.  I have quite a list going of a few new products that I would love to try but this is my most recent purchase:

Considering my face is extremely sensitive and I'm allergic to almost every product out on the market (literally), I'll keep you up-to-date on how well it works! If I go into work in the morning and my face slightly resembles a hot hair balloon, you will know that it was an epic fail.  I'm allergic to Salicylic Acid and also Benzoyl Peroxide, so I have to steer clear of most facial products. With that being said, we will see just how long this one last! Not to mention, I also got a free chemical peel tonight.  Have you ever tried one? Feedback please!
I'm absolutely terrified to give it a try! I think I'll stick to one product at a time for now!

On another note, my co-workers decided this morning to run a 5k-myself included.  Insert laughs here _____.
I've never been a big fan of running but decided to give it another try. I mean, everyone's doing it, right?!
So tomorrow it is,  I must get back to running-we will see just how long this last!

New York, New York!

Greetings friends! I feel as if it has been a while since I've last updated! Things have been busy, busy around here lately! I just got back from Men's Apparel Market in NYC and could not have had a more fun time! Saturday we arrived in the city (one hour early I might add-love Delta!) and immediately began doing what we do best-eating!  One of my favorite things about going to market with my dad is all of our little "traditions" that we've made throughout the years! First stop, a cute little deli right down the street from where we stay.  Second stop-apparel market! Saturday night, we went to the Oyster Bar at Grand Central Station, another one of our little traditions! It was absolutely delicious, we always stop there for lobster and beer! And we later just walked around the city and stopped for dessert! Considering we have to get up at 3:45 a.m. to catch a flight out, we don't normally do much the fist night in the city.

Sunday, we worked all day and went out with friends that night...another fun tradition! We always go to an Italian restaurant called Becco in the Theater District where they serve family style meals.
And afterwards, some friends and I went to a piano bar down the street and had a blast! We met some new friends from Boston and also from Washington....so fun!
We woke up early Monday morning for another full day at work, and unfortunately I had to fly home late Monday night. Lets just say that I would have done just about anything not to have to come back.  Once again, I met some new friends on the flight home.
This week has been extraordinarily busy.  Between work, meeting up with friends, and the extra-large piles of laundry stacked up around my house, things haven't slowed down.  Did I mention that I had four phone interviews? And how could I forget the hundreds of boxes stacked everywhere. I've exceeded the maximum amount of boxes that will fit in my closet! So here's to another week, maybe it will be a little slower than the last! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Updates and Such

I wish I knew where to start! I have so many updates, and not enough time! It is now 9:00 p.m.-I'm a tiny bit bashful to admit that this is the latest I've been up in over a week! I feel as if I've just arisen from the dead; for the first time in over a week, I'm just now beginning to feel like a normal human being again. Despite the fact that my face is still swollen, I sound like a man, I look like a ghost, and the steroids that I'm on make me itch like a dog....I'm getting back to normal, slowly but surely.
It's been a cold week here in the 'ham! As I was getting into my car this morning, I just happened to notice a drink that I had left in my cup holder had frozen solid! It hasn't gotten above 32 here all week. I absolutely love snow but I've had enough for a while I do believe.  It has snowed here every day this week, snow is still on the ground, it's super icy, and we've now got black ice! I never realized just how fun it was to have to wake up 30 min. early to melt the ice off of your car before work! Schools are just now opening back up and things are just now getting back to normal again.
I'm flying to NYC on Saturday morning for Men's Apparel Market and I absolutely couldn't be more excited about it! After this week at work, I wouldn't mind getting trapped in a blizzard and never coming back!
If you couldn't tell by the content of my posts, a lot has gone on here lately and a lot is about to change! I couldn't be more excited!! My time here in Birmingham is coming to an end and I wish that words could describe just how excited I am about that! There is a little Chinese restaurant by my house where I sometimes pick-up dinner and I stopped by tonight.  Now granted, I've only been twice but each time my fortune (in the fortune cookie, of course) was so good that I just have to keep going back (very superstitious).  Tonight I got lucky and got two; they couldn't be more fitting!
First:
"No obstacles will stand in the way of your success this month."
Second:
"Opportunity is knocking on your door-answer it tomorrow."
And the one from a few weeks ago:
"Watch for a new relationship to develop within the month."
I mean, hello?! Who wouldn't want to keep stopping by with these great fortunes!
I've got a little collection going, lets just hope that they are true to their word!
Posting JAX pics soon! And to my dear friends and family that I love so much, sorry if I haven't responded to your texts/calls.  Promise I'm getting back to you soon!
Have a wonderful week,

Happy Birthday LK!

Happy, Happy Belated Birthday to my sweet friend Laura Katherine!!

I hope that you had a wonderful birthday!!
We've got lots of celebrating to do next time we're all together!!

Do you know what today is?

The National Championship game.  I'm so thankful that the city of Birmingham shut down for the day, I wish that I could honestly describe the large Oregon flags that have been flying around here recently. And yes indeed, I did say Oregon.  Apparently Alabama fans are pretty true to their colors around here and want nothing to do with an Auburn win.

I feel that it's been days since I've last posted, new pics coming soon!
Well, we're officially under a Winter Storm Warning. I can't honestly remember the last time I've said that!
And speaking of weather..
I've been a little under the weather here lately.  Talk about little, maybe a lot.  I just don't know what could be more miserable...ice, snow, a sinus infection, or walking pneumonia? Lucky for me I've got them all!
I've been in Meridian over the past few days, and I left the sleet there yesterday morning to head back to Birmingham.
And lets just say that I had quite the meltdown when I got here and my heat didn't work.
Yes, you heard correctly. No heat.
Needless to say, it is fixed and all is well for the time being.  Now if only the power will stay on and work would get cancelled one more day..wishful thinking, huh?!
Here's to hoping 11 days of antibiotics and 12 days of steroids start to work pretty soon.  I've got places to go and people to see, and am supposed to be in NYC on Saturday!

Happy New Year to Mississippi State!!

Rodriguez, your job is in danger; Mississippi State indeed WON the Gator Bowl, and what a very happy new year it was! Just got in from Jacksonville and what an amazing weekend it was!
Lets just say that my body is aching from cutting a rug on the dance floor, my arm is aching from ringing my cowbell consistently throughout the game, and my throat is aching for absolutely no apparent reason. Counting the minutes down until I climb into bed. Successful New Years indeed.
My New Years Eve consisted of work, flight delays, and the Dawg Pound Party at the Jacksonville Convention Center with my Mississippi State family. I felt as if it was just one extra-large college reunion-so fun!  Saturday we went to the game, dinner, and then out in the Landing. The game was absolutely nothing short of amazing! Mississippi State is a totally different team from what they were this time last year and I'm excited for next season already! With 6 ill players, it was still a total domination.  What a great day to be a Bulldog! And of course, the long journey back began early this morning. Let's just say that none of us were ready to come back! The weather couldn't have been any more perfect and Jacksonville was so fun. I've flown into the JAX airport a time or two but had never been downtown Jacksonville. It was a really fun city!
If you didn't already know, I'm kind of in love..with my friends that is! We, once again, had an amazing time together and I hated that we all had to leave each other again today! It was so great catching up-oh what I would give to all live in the same city again! We're literally spread throughout the entire southeastern U.S.
I apologize to any of you who called/text and I didn't respond to your message...promise I'm returning them all soon :) I didn't answer my phone just about all weekend and for the first time in a long time, it was really nice!
On another note, Happy 2011 friends!! As I thought back on last year, I couldn't help but think of everything that has gone on in a year.  I would literally be up all night if I had to make a list, but a lot has happened within this year.  I know I reference it a lot, but I love reading articles on Boundless.org; they have some good articles from time-to-time.  They're not as good this year as in past(with staffing changes and what not) but they still have an article or two on occasions that I enjoy reading and they've got some good New Years articles up now.  I don't really get into "New Years Resolutions" and what not, but I guess this year I'll try and "live in the moment" a little bit more than I tend to do now.
I love to travel, and one of my most favorite things about it is that I meet so many amazing new people every time I do.  I've been so fortunate here lately to have met so many new people in the airport, sitting next to me on a plane, etc.  I can't even begin to count everyone that I've met here recently but it's funny the things that we all have in common and the new friendships that I've formed out of a simple conversation. Lets just say that the countdown to NYC has already begun!
And as for a New Years Resolution:
MSU to the SEC Championship!!
*Pictures to come soon.
