Happy New Year!!

JAX bound in the morning! I absolutely cannot WAIT to see all of my best friends! And who would have guessed that I would have seen Mississippi friends in B'ham this week?! I guess they're all flying out of here to go to the Gator Bowl! Happy New Year, hope you all have a great one!

Production at its Finest

Hi ho, hi ho, it's back to work I go.
I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas, if only the holidays could last a little longer!
And what about that white Christmas? If only the snow had actually stuck!!
It was great none-the-less.  By the inches of snow on everyone's cars in Birmingham, they got way more than MS did! As a matter of fact, there is still snow on the ground here. It would snow inches in AL while I'm in MS! It seems as if that's been a common occurrence this winter, it snowed here while I was in Dallas also!
Where has the year gone?
I absolutely cannot believe that its almost over! My January is almost completely booked! I'll be spending one weekend in Jacksonville, and another in NYC.  And the best news? My lease runs up in 35 days!! I mean, not that I'm counting or anything! I'm just as excited as a child at Christmas.  As a matter of fact, I'm so excited that I think I could make a paper chain..you know, the ones you made as a kid counting down to Christmas? or summer? That. excited.
So, I'm making the most of the last week in December and looking forward to all that 2011 has to bring!
As for this week:
  Production, production, production.
I got into town late last night so today I went to work, cleaned house, ran errands, and have some work to do tonight.
Tuesday-Taking Christmas tree down.  I've heard that it's bad luck to leave a tree up after New Year's, so as bad as I don't want to take it down-I'm going to (told you I was a tiny bit superstitious!).
Wednesday-Meeting family in Tuscaloosa for dinner
Thursday-Getting ready for Jacksonville
Friday-Working and then going to the Dawg Pound Party
Saturday-Gator Bowl!!
Friends, this is what I like to call "organized chaos" at best!
Here's to hoping that you all have a wonderful week!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!!

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

Bah. Humbug.
Am I the only person that feels as if this week has just drug on? I don't know just how much more I can take!
I love Christmas, I really do. I love the lights, the decorations, the music, cold weather, Christmas movies..everything about it. I was the girl who put her tree up in October..remember?
But for the first time in a long time, I'm really ready for it to be over.
We've been swamped at work lately, and it seems as if every Grinch in the state of AL has been to visit over the past few weeks...this week being the worst of course, and it takes everything in me not to want to be rude right back.
Now I'm not just talking a little Grinch like..I'm talking A LOT Grinch like. As in, I get home and never want to go back Grinch-like.
Today, I had a particular customer that was so rude and caused such a scene that not only was corporate security called but 8 police officers arrived on the scene also.
Over a phone. An I phone to be exact. I mean, really?  He had one, but couldn't find his second. So he decided to throw a FIT in the middle of the office. Classy I tell you, pure class.
Here's to hoping I make it one more day at work!
I work a half a day on Friday and off to Mississippi for the holidays! Home sweet home!
Just talked to my best friend on the phone tonight, absolutely cannot WAIT to be back and see her!! And as for my sweet grandmother, we're hoping she'll be home for Christmas! Maybe even a white Christmas at that?
There is a slight chance of snow flurries Saturday for those of you who haven't heard :)
Here's to hoping your week has been better than mine!

I'm afraid it's official..
our furry friend is back; although I wouldn't exactly call him a friend,
more like a rat.
We're really hoping that he's outside this time! He's been enjoying our trash around here lately...let's just hope he doesn't decide to venture back into our house!
Busy weekend.
Friday night I got into Meridian late.
Some friends that I graduated with have a Christmas party at their river house each year in the Demopolis area so I went to it Saturday night and came back to Meridian early this morning.
My dad's annual store Christmas party was tonight at our house, and surprise surprise...
guess who was the host?
Yep, you guessed it..the one and only!  Who knew I could pull off hosting a Christmas party 2 1/2 hrs. away from my house?
Let's just say it was a tiny bit unexpected.
My mom got a call around 1 this afternoon that my grandmother wasn't doing well and they ended up admitting her into the hospital.  Long story short her "I'll be right back" turned into an all day affair..she never made it back! So here my dad and I were, left alone to host the party.
Let's not lie, my dad was kind of a nervous wreck. Poor thing, he thinks that washing the windows and blowing the leaves in the yard is very good preparation.  Indeed it is, but that doesn't really help w/the cleaning of the actual inside of the house! Typical man (no offense to any of you out there!).
Have you ever hosted a Christmas party?
I just thought that I had!  I would always host a Christmas party/ornament swap with my friends each year..a little Christmas cheer, a few cute platters, and a little food later...voila! Christmas party success...but not so easy this time!
I quickly learned that my mom has entirely too much Christmas china..I will admit that I was a tiny bit overwhelmed. And I can't remember the last time I had to set an actual dining table! A big thanks to our sweet neighbor, Melissa, who catered the party. I couldn't imagine if I had actually had to cook...there's no way that we could have pulled that one off! Long story short, after loads of dishes and lots of cleaning later..the party was a success! Here's to hoping my sweet 87 year old grandmother recovers before the Christmas holidays!

Christmas cards were mailed out on Tuesday, if you sent me your address and haven't received yours let me know and I'll re-send them! I was really afraid that the fancy font I used was going to be hard for the postman to interpret! Here's to hoping you all received them!
I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend!
With love,

I feel as if the majority of my life is currently being spent in traffic.
And traffic just seems to be a real live version of Mario Kart.
It just took me one hour to get home,
Bah Humbug.
As much as I really do love the holidays,
I'm ready for life to calm down..just a little.
In other news,
I just got a steal on Christmas gifts, thanks to The Lodge.
And the best part?
I don't have to pick them up!! I have a good sister to do that :)
Little does she know...she's just picking up her own present.
Easy enough.
Thank goodness it's almost the weekend!

Put it on the Blog, Yo!

I don't even know where to begin!
I wish that I could put into words just how busy things have been around here lately.
I'll catch you all up to date..let's back up one week:
The end of last week I was a little under the weather...okay so I more or less just felt like death.
Had an Income Tax Return project due last Monday.
Flew to Dallas Wednesday night.
Had a ridiculously fun week.
Flew back in late last night,
and rode the struggle bus to work this morning.
Just got out of an Income Tax final.
About to address Christmas cards,
while studying for an Intermediate Accounting final tomorrow night.
Being a rockstar at work lately,
exceeded quarterly quota one month early...woo hoo!
Life has been hectic to say the least!
Back to Dallas..
I flew in last Wednesday to see a few friends and had an absolute blast.  Needless to say, I did not want to come home. Had a ridiculously good time; met lots of new fun friends and had so much fun spending time w/ old friends.  Wednesday night we went out in Dallas, Thursday consisted of happy hour, sushi and wine night.  Friday, my friends and I went to a brewery for lunch, shopped, went to dinner and then out in Uptown. And Saturday we saw Pat Green in Ft. Worth with Whitney, Erica, Stephen, and Sara!! What a fun city it was! That was my first time to go to the Stockyards and I would love to go back! If you've never been, it's definitely worth the trip..especially at Christmas!
And of course it was great seeing you Whitney!! I'm going to try and make it back in February :) You never know..I might even be back before then!!
As for Sunday, I met up with a special friend for the afternoon and he took me to the airport. I'm pretty sure that I could dedicate a whole post of its own to this friend. I would like to say that we have a very special relationship and a special relationship I hope it will always be.  I cherish every moment that I get to spend with this friend; so glad we got together!
So home again, home again..jiggity jig.
I met some really nice people on the flight home last night, and one of them just happened to be interviewing with my company today! What a small world!
But the best part...it was SNOWING when I arrived back in B'ham last night! It stopped about midway through the day today with highs being in the 20's!! What an amazing ending to an absolutely amazing weekend!! Hated to see it end.
On another note,
still needing addresses..Riles that would be you :)
Please send my way!!

 Whitney and Erica
Until next time,

Pretty sure I could have shed a few tears upon arriving back to B'ham-oh wait, I did..that much fun! Many, many updates to come!

Do you remember this time about a year ago? For all of you long-time blog followers, do you remember the background to the Humana job that I didn't take last year in Birmingham?
Well guess what..
Approximately one year, three months later,
I'm still dealing with this ridiculous company.
I do not work for them, nor have I ever worked for them.
But apparently they think that I do work for them.  They send me all employee e-mail, mailings, etc. etc. and I've called numerous (and I do mean numerous) times to get them to take my name off of this list.  It hasn't worked yet; I've even resorted to calling the AL Department of Insurance b/c the company still has me appointed to sell their product within the state of AL.
Long story short..
I get a phone call tonight that the company sent me a $170 commission check (for things I didn't sell) b/c they're going to a new payroll system.
Not so bad considering I've never worked for them a day in my life, and after all the trouble that they've caused I think it's well deserved on my part haha.
Now if only my ethics didn't think differently..
What to do, what to do?
