Hi Ho, Hi Ho..

Back to civilization I go..
And civilization I am thankful for!!
Greetings from the great state of Alabama!
I arrived in Birmingham early this morning to find minimal damage here.  There are lots of trees and signs down along I-20 right before you get to Tuscaloosa.  The Mercedes plant had lots of trees down but the major damage is not able to be seen from the interstate.  Not to mention that traffic was pretty thick throughout Tuscaloosa.
Thankfully, Ross Bridge got minimal amounts of damage.  There are a few trees down on the golf course but we've got power and we've got cable! I've heard that downtown got a little damage but I'm not venturing out to see it! My thoughts and prayers go out to the city of Tuscaloosa, the pictures and videos are absolutely horrific.  What a scary few nights it has been, here's to hoping we don't have many more nights like that!

Unclaimed Baggage

I would love to go here one day!
It's the Unclaimed Baggage store in Scottsboro, AL; the only store in the United States that purchases Unclaimed Baggage from airline companies around the world and re-sales the merchandise at discounted prices!

Happy Easter!

Updates and Such

Long time, no blog! What a busy few weeks it has been! I spent Wednesday through Friday morning in Birmingham, Saturday in Meridian and today in Vicksburg.
One of the Baron's first opening games of the season was Thursday night in Birmingham and of course I was in attendance.  I got to catch up with friends and needed to pick up a few things (in which of course I forgot..again!).  Guess I will have to make another trip soon then!
On another note, one of my dear friends, Laura, had a wedding shower today in Vicksburg! It was so great getting to see all of my friends!
And guess what?
Did you know that if you download the Pandora App to your phone, you can connect an auxiliary cord to your car and stream it through your radio?
Learn something new everyday!

SBW 2011!

What a wonderful weekend in Starkville it was...and what an extremely busy few weeks it has been!
I feel as if all I do is work and by the time I get home each night I just don't care to spend my nights blogging!
Maybe I will catch you all up to date soon b/c there's surely a lot to catch up on!
Headed to Birmingham tomorrow!
Until then,

Careers and Relationships

As I was talking with a friend one night it became very clear to me that careers are a lot like relationships.
After graduating college, it seems as if the majority of former students spend the majority of their time focused on what they want to do with their lives and who they want to become.  Whether someone is currently working their dream career, looking for that dream career, or still trying to figure out what their dream career should be-each of these qualities all posses very similar characteristics of a relationship.
I know many of whom are looking to find their "soul mate" in life or are currently with their "soul mate."  Maybe they are unhappy with the one they are currently with and unsure if that was the right person for them.
I kind of feel as if it all comes with age; if you do not find either of the above during your college years that you seem to look the rest of your life for the above listed.
Thankfully, I know where I would eventually like my career to take me-but am I currently ready for that? Am I ready to sacrifice selfish desires to take that life-long career?  Or should you work a job that doesn't meet all of your long-term career goals to pursue things other than a career in the short-term and make that career change later in life?
And as for relationships..
Are we truly willing to give up careers to be with the people that we love, or should we work our dream jobs in hopes of one day finding another true love?
Does money really matter?
Life tends to become more complex the older we become.  It's all about giving and taking, and finding that happy medium.  So many choices, and no answers in the back of the book!

A Work in Progress

Please excuse the appearance of my blog, every time I get on it stresses me out just a little.  I'm currently in the process of creating my own background with matching header and buttons.  Who ever knew it could be so complicated?
Okay, in all honesty it isn't complicated it is just extremely time consuming, so I've been working a little each day.
I'm learning a lot and it is almost complete, so hopefully my next post will look much different from this!
I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend! Things have been pretty busy around here lately.  I started work on Thursday and haven't stopped since.  I'm loving my new job! I've once heard "Choose a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life," and I'm finding that to be true.  I've been working ten hour days and I'm exhausted by the time I get home each night but I'm loving being back at the store.  Now on the Meridian scene, maybe not so much! I would love to expand and open another store elsewhere, so here's to hoping I won't be here for too long!
Friday night I caught up with old friends at Weidmann's, worked all day Saturday, went out with friends later that night, layed out all day today and cooked out with our neighbors tonight.  I've got a day off tomorrow and am hoping to spend all day by the pool! March Madness Championship tomorrow night, too bad my bracket was shot a few weeks ago!  Here's to hoping you all have a good Monday!
