A Little Here, A Little There..

First things first..
I really don't care for this new blog header but I just cannot seem to make one that I really like. I'll keep playing around with it until I can find something that I decently like. Onto bigger and better things..
I have been quite a busy bee since the last time I blogged. I have been on quite a cleaning streak lately(read below) and I have also got quite a bit of Christmas shopping done! Now for those of you who don't know me very well, this is a VERY big deal. I am your absolute best example of a last minute shopper..but not this year! Not to mention, I even ordered Sophie a sweet little Christmas sweater today! I will post pics as soon as it comes in! I bet you didn't hear the latest news in Meridian???? There is a chance for SNOW FLURRIES on Friday night, and it is only November! Hopefully we will get some sort of a winter snow this year! Tonight, my family and I had a "late" Thanksgiving dinner with my dad's aunt and uncle. It was great getting to see them, I haven't seen them in quite some time. I hope that I am in as good of shape as they are when I reach their age. My great aunt is absolutely hilarious, and my great uncle is still just as business smart as he has ever been.
I have quite a few projects that I am currently working on. Last year, I made my mom and dad each a calendar for Christmas. They are both so hard to shop for and I was completely out of ideas. I have a website that I use online, and all that I do is design each page (which takes forever), put together the layout, and have it printed and shipped to my front door. Simple enough I guess. Needless to say, it was such a hit last year that I'm doing it again. So I have spent quite a bit of time on my computer lately trying to put these together (and shhh...it's all a secret!). Hopefully I can finish them sometime this week. Last year, I was late getting them together, rushed them in for Christmas, and they cost waay more than I ever imaged a calendar would! Thank goodness this year I have started early, and I even got an e-mail today stating that I get FREE shipping!!! I know this doesn't mean much to you but when the shipping costs are more than the calendar, it means quite a bit!
Have I completely lost my mind??
Apparently, it has been gone for quite some time now! You wouldn't believe what I have been doing over the past two days..I have been on quite a cleaning streak. Now I haven't been on just any clean streak....
I have literally cleaned baseboards, cabinets and what not, I cleaned my car inside and out, cleaned my room, cleaned my closet, and I even cleaned out all of my drawers...AGAIN!
Yes my friends, this is what unemployment will do to you. Not only did I clean out all of my drawers, closet, cabinets, etc. two months ago when I thought I was moving, but I have cleaned them out a second time over the past few days! I even considered re-painting the baseboards! I think unemployment has most definitely reached a new high. If only Santa could bring me a job..
Now for those of you who know me, I am an extraordinarily clean person, but I'm afraid this has reached a new high. Lauren (my roomie from last year) would have come up with a better nickname than just Merry Maids for me by now if we still lived together..
Until tomorrow.

From Dixon With Love..

It's a great day to be a bulldog! I have been in Starkville all weekend and what a weekend it has been! Before I go into detail, I'll catch you up to date on everything else! This week has been one amazing week and I'm sad that it has to come to an end. The Arkansas Vons arrived on Tuesday and the fun hasn't stopped! We had our Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday night, had fun hanging out on Thursday night, and shopped a little on Friday. Sister taught us how to knit Friday afternoon and I must admit that I have been knitting a scarf ever since! I just hope that I will be able to finish it sometime soon...it's quite time consuming! Friday night was family game night and we had soo much fun! I woke up bright and early Saturday morning and headed to Starkville for what turned out to be an AMAZING day! Hotty Toddy who????

Final score: 41-27...wrap that in maroon and white!!

My friends and I all sat in the student section and had an absolute blast! We stayed in the stadium for quite sometime after the game..probably one of the most fun Mississippi State games I have ever attended!
For the momentous occassion, not only were students throwing the typical whiskey and coke when scoring, making a terrible play, etc...but they also decided to throw nacho cheese. Can we please say disgusting??? Yes, you guessed it, my friends and I not only left with whiskey and coke in our hair, but also nacho cheese. Disgusting!
Besides the fact, it was an amazing game and I have thoroughly enjoyed harassing my Ole Miss friends about it! After the game, my friends and I tailgated all afternoon and proceeded to go out last night. It was soo good getting to catch up with everyone! I miss seeing them soo much! Also, Kayleigh came into town and I ran into her and Sarah G. at the game!!! It was soo good seeing both of them. I have seen Sarah at a few games but haven't seen Kayleigh at all since graduation! She moved to Monroe and is an absolutely amazing reporter/meteorologist..if you haven't seen her posts, you should definitely check them out!
Today, Brittany and I had our traditional after game-day sushi date. Soo much fun! Overall, this weekend was absolutely amazing! To the Arkansas Vons, I wish you could have stayed longer! I arrived in town tonight, and it was so weird with you all not being here :( I promise to make a Little Rock trip very soon, and I absolutely HATE that the Hogs didn't win last night! I was pulling for them all the way!
I have posted pics below!

Updates and All..

Let me first and foremost start out by saying that I have spent the past hour of my life making a new Christmas header for the blog. Well, a solid hour later my computer froze, I forgot to save the header, and I lost every bit of it! Thank you Scrapblog! I'm currently using this header from last year until I can re-create the one in which I started.
On another note, I haven't blogged in quite a while! Believe it or not, I've been keeping pretty busy. I was in Starkville all of last weekend for the Alabama game and we had an absolute amazing time! It was so good to catch up with old friends! I have a couple of pictures from the weekend and cannot seem to get them off of my camera onto my computer! I would have to say that the highlight of Saturday was seeing all of the Alabama attire. Gosh, I wish I could have taken pictures of all of the GREAT Houndstooth slacks that I saw. This past Monday, I helped decorate my dad's store for Christmas; it turned out to be a lot of fun and I learned quite a bit! I have been working on two wreaths to go on the front doors. I have completed one and should finish the other one first thing in the morning! I spent Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this past week substitute teaching! I had one second grade class and two different first grade classes; the kids were good and it was lots of fun! I spent all of this weekend in Meridian, and I must admit that I didn't really know what to do with all of this free time! I can't recall the last time I was in town for the weekend! I was supposed to go to Little Rock but having to work on Friday put a damper on those plans.
I bet you would NEVER guess what I did last night??
That's right, I sat in on a Saturday night and put up my Christmas tree. I must admit that I am WAY overdue for a new Christmas tree; I really considered purchasing a new one this year but job permitting that didn't happen. Well, I began putting the tree up last night and realized that somehow I have lost all of my lights, ALL of my ornaments, and a branch off of the tree. Cute tree, huh? Well, my friends, lets just say that my Christmas tree is lacking significantly! Hopefully we can fix that problem shortly! Until then, I shall have a bare Christmas tree :(
Sometime within the last week a new craft store opened in Meridian; for all of you who live here know that it is a pretty big deal to have a new store open in town. I took a trip one day last week and thought that I was in heaven! Can I please tell you that this store TWO cake isles?! And not to mention many scrapbooking supplies! I didn't even talk about the fabric...it takes up half of the store! Too bad I'm not in college anymore. Last year, it seemed as if I was ALWAYS needing fabric for toga parties and what not, and Starkville was the only city in the surrounding area to have a slim selection of fabrics. Well, not anymore! I think I could have spent a few days and quite a bit of money in there! I must admit, it wasn't nearly as good as Hobby Lobby but it will suffice for the time being!
And onto Turkey Day....the Arkansas Vons will be arriving on Tuesday and I absolutely could not be more excited! I haven't seen Riley and Matt since the wedding last May and I cannot wait to catch up! I don't think that Tuesday could come soon enough!

Wow! What a Wednesday..

Words cannot even describe how busy I have been lately! I got back from Orlando on Sunday. I substituted on Monday and Tuesday, and I have been in Jackson all day today. I went with my dad today to buy Mountain Hardware and Patagonia in Jackson. We had a great time, but we were in each appointment for about four hours! Needless to say, I was very glad to get home. Waking up at 5:00 a.m. makes for a long day! I got back to Meridian around 8:00 tonight and have been returning phone calls ever since!
I must admit that the best part of substitute teaching are the funnies that come along with it. I just had to pass this one along: All of the children were making turkeys on Tuesday, and each turkey had five feathers. On each feather, the child was supposed to write one thing that they were thankful for. Most all of the children wrote the basics: food, clothing, shelter, family, and friends. Well, I looked down at one little boy's turkey and it spelled out B-A-S-S! I said, "Is that bass?" He replied "Yes, and how do you spell H-O-O-K-S?" I about fell out the on the floor...typical guy, typical guy. Apparently, it starts at an early age!

Orlando..

Just in from Orlando, and I must admit it is bittersweet. Glad to be home, but there was just soo much more to do in Orlando! And did I mention it was hott?? In November!! We had so much fun. We spent Thursday night with some of our family, we spent all day Friday at Disney World, and went to my cousin's wedding on Saturday. Disney World was great! What was the best part you ask?? The Christmas decorations and they were even playing Christmas music!!! It was amazing...but I must admit, I like the thought of Christmas in New York better :) It just seemed too hot to feel like Christmas! Saturday night was lots of fun, it was great getting to see all of our family! Congratulations to Brad and Amy! While I was in Disney, I got a phone call to substitute. So I will be substituting tomorrow and could not be any more excited about it!!
Flight from Orlando to Atlanta=Enough birth control for the rest of my life
I have heard it said many times that one should not fly into the Orlando airport. Needless to say, I did not heed there advice and flew anyways. Big, BIG mistake my friends! Please take my advice, if you are flying solo..NEVER fly into Orlando. I must have had at least five children sitting beside, behind, and in front of me on both flights screaming (yes, screaming!) at the top of their lungs for the entire flight. Needless to say, the Meridian flight has never looked so good!
Until tomorrow..

Monday, Monday..

As many of you know, I am absolutely obsessed with Christmas and everything about it. Well, I received a text message from one of my old roommates at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday morning and as many of you know, my phone has no memory. Needless to say, I wish that I had kept the exact text, but this is how it went:
Roomie: "Michelle, just wanted to make sure that you have not put your Christmas tree up yet, I mean it's still pretty early."
Me: "No, I was hoping I would have a new "home" to put it up in, but no worries if I had my own place it would have been up October 1!"
You know it's bad when...
your previous roommates message you to make sure you haven't put your tree up yet haha!
I had really good intentions this week of putting up my Christmas tree, and I'm afraid it may have to wait until next week! I worked all day today, and will work again in the morning. I need to pack; I will be in Jackson all day Wednesday, and will leave bright and early Thursday morning for Orlando. When I mean early, I mean I have to be at the airport at 5:15 a.m.!! Needless to say, I am afraid Sophie's little "birthday celebration" may have to be sometime next week, along with my Christmas decorating!

One Amazing Weekend!

Well, I just got back into town today. I have been in Starkville all weekend, and what a wonderful weekend it has been! My friends and I went to dinner Friday night and then proceeded to go out. We cooked out on Saturday, went to dinner and watched the football game, and then went out for Halloween. We had an absolutely amazing time and I was so sad to leave! I miss my friends and Starkville more and more each time I visit! I got home today and played with little Sophie all afternoon, and we even went for a 2-mile walk! Needless to say, she was STILL not tired when we got back! My little Soph will be turning ONE on Friday!! I absolutely cannot believe that I have had her for almost one complete year. She has got SOO much personality and is just as sassy as she can be! Not to mention, she LOVES to give kisses. Yes, this is correct my friends; I can promise you that she will give you more kisses in one day than some people will get in their whole lives! I grow to love her more and more each day, and I do not know what I would do without her! That being said, I am flying to Orlando on Thursday for my cousin Brad's wedding. I am so excited to see all of our family that we do not get to see very often, but I will miss Sophie's Birthday. (I know, I know...for all of you not-so-dog-loving-fans, you don't quite understand..but I feel REALLY bad boarding her on her birthday). No worries though, we will make it up to her before we leave. On another note, I have a big interview coming up on Wednesday and could use ALL of your prayers! It would be an absolutely AMAZING job if I can get it! To sum it all up, I have got one very busy week! Work tomorrow, Jackson Wednesday, and Orlando on Thursday!! Can't wait!!
